There is not a direct way to add content only near the edges of surfaces, but by duplicating surfaces and using the surface "offset" or "feather" features, it is possible as shown in the video below.
To follow the steps seen here:
- Create a surface and add content like the water video
- Duplicate that surface and remove the water effect from the copy of the surface's layer
- Insert the solid color effect into the copy of the original surface and then on the surface layer, adjust the offset or feather toggle.
Pro Tip
Try using different effects and blend modes on your original surface layer to see how they look as edges. For instance, sonar can look like it's tracing the edges, or digital fade will apply the same logic of the effect to the edges.
