Direct Ethernet Connection on PC (not Internet Sharing)

Using a free third-party program (Tfpd64) that hosts a DHCP server on your computer, you connect directly to a Lightform device via an Ethernet cable.

Note: Because Tftpd64 is a Windows-based application, this article only applies to PC users.

Pre-conditions

1. If the PC is normally connected via ethernet (to router or modem), disconnect the cable.
2. Ensure ethernet cable is disconnected from the LF device.

Steps

1. Download Tftpd64. Use the "Recommended Download" link on this page: https://bitbucket.org/phjounin/tftpd64/wiki/DownloadTftpd64 Once downloaded, install the application with default/desired install options.

2. Run Tftpd64.

3. From main view, change "Server interfaces" to the one that corresponds to your ethernet connection. The IP address commonly starts with "192.168." See example:

4. Next, click the "Settings" button at the bottom of the application.

5. On the "Tftpd64: Settings" screen, click the "DHCP" tab and fill in the values like shown:

6. Click "OK" button to save the settings.

7. In Tftpd64's main view, click the "DHCP server" tab.

8. Now, directly connect ethernet cable between PC and LF device.

9. After a few seconds, the "DHCP server" tab list should populate similar to this screenshot:

10. Now, open up Lightform Creator and begin using the connected LF device.

When you are done using the direct ethernet connection:

When you are done with your direct connection, simply close the Tftpd64 application window ("X" close button) or by right-clicking on the icon in the Windows system tray and choosing the "Close" option.

Disconnect the ethernet cable from the LF device to return it to using wi-fi connection (if previously paired), or it will go into pairing mode.
