Thanks for choosing Lightform.
Follow the steps below to get started with your LFC Kit!
Step 1 Download Lightform Creator
Download and install Lightform Creator the content creation software that is included and used in conjunction with Lightform products.
All windows users will also need to download the following package copied from here.
Lightform Creator is a processor-intensive software similar to a video game, so we recommend making sure your laptop or desktop meets our minimum requirements.
Step 2 Create an account
When you are prompted to log in to Lightform Creator, click 'Sign Up' to create an account. You will be redirected to a registration page.
If you have any trouble, please make sure you are using a Firefox or Chrome browser (Safari and Internet Explorer are not supported).
Please note:
Once you create a Lightform Account, the same credentials can be used to login to the Lightform Guide. If you previously had a Lightform Guide account, please use your new Lightform Account credentials to login moving forward.
Step 3 Plug everything in
After you unbox your LFC Kit, get it ready to use by plugging everything in. More detailed instructions are included here.
Please make sure the:
- USB-C cable is connecting your camera to the LFC
- HDMI cable is connecting your LFC to your projector
- There are no cables connected directly to your computer/laptop
Step 4 Connect to your device
To connect your device for the first time, turn on your LFC and open Lightform Creator.
Click New Project when the application starts up.
Give your project a name and make sure the box that says Perform New Scan to Initialize Project is checked.
We recommend doing this process on a stable, secure network and not on-site at an installation.
To connect through Wi-Fi:
- On your computer, connect to the Wi-Fi network with the name of your LFC e.g. Lightform Ancient Jackal. The password is lightform.
Please note:
It can take up to 3 minutes for the Lightform device to show up in your Wi-Fi networks after you turn it on - On Lightform Creator, connect to your regular Wi-Fi network by selecting the network and typing in the correct password.
- On your computer, switch back to your regular Wi-Fi network. Make sure you reconnect to the same network that you selected for pairing. Pay attention to Wi-Fi bandwidth e.g. 2g vs 5g.
You should now be paired!
Please note:
If the pairing process is not successful please complete the step-by-step Pairing Wizard. You may have to connect via Ethernet, upgrade your device and try again to pair with Wi-Fi. For more details on pairing, other networking options, and to access offline mode when the internet is not an option visit this page.
Step 5 Update your firmware
To begin using your device, you must update the device's firmware to ensure you are using the latest Lightform Creator features. This requires that the device be connected to a network with an internet connection.
Continue following the instructions in Lightform Creator to update the firmware.
Please note: If you are using your brand new device for the first time, and Lightform Creator does not prompt you to update your firmware, please contact our support team.
Step 6 Get ready to scan
Congrats! After you've connected your device to the same network as your computer and updated the firmware, your Lightform device is ready to use.
The first step of the creation process will be to set up your scene and perform a scan. Make sure you are familiar with our scan features and how to create the best setup for optimal scan results.
Step 7 Start designing
Once you have your first scan, you can use our smart tools to mask out parts of the scene and apply our built-in library of effects or import your own images and videos to design your experience. Please read more about this workflow here: Adding Content.
